Who We Are

our Mission, Vision, Core Values and priorities

Our Mission:
We will lead people toward a growing intimacy with Christ, by helping them walk in His grace, His wisdom, His character, and His passion for loving, saving, growing, and sending others.

Our Vision:  We will equip God’s people to worship and serve Him faithfully by promoting God’s love and truth: Encourage one another wisely, Share our growth transparently, Point our friends, families, and neighbors to Jesus, and Help others experience salvation, abundant life, and fruitful ministry.

Our Core Values: Biblical Teaching: God’s Word should be accurately applied by God’s Spirit to guide us in all we teach and do. “Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” Colossians 3:16

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17

Authentic Community: We will encourage and model godly relationships. We want to be a Christ-centered  community where people can be real and be accepted. We want to model God’s grace. Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma. Ephesians 5:1-2
“I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one:”  John 17:22

Life Transformation:  God’s truth, faithfully shared by witnesses of its transforming power, can change lives. We are learning to apply Christ’s Great Commission both individually and corporately.
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”  Matthew 28:19-20

Our Priorities:

Worship: Jesus is worthy of all worship, so we commit ourselves to learn a lifestyle of worship.

Small Groups: Jesus discipled through a small group, so we’re striving to disciple through small groups.

Outreach: Jesus offers to shepherd all people, so we’re learning to lovingly shepherd others.

Kids: Jesus loved and protected children, so our children and youth ministries will strive to do the same.

What We're Becoming

KenoCC is becoming a community that:

Prays – for God’s wisdom and will in each of our lives, and in our corporate life, and for God’s work in others’ lives.
Loves – God, one another, spouses, kids, families, others, neighbors, and enemies.

Learns – God is our loving Father, and He manages our lives and circumstances to bring us to maturity in His Son.

Teaches – We know that the whole church plays a part in effective evangelism and discipleship.

Works – We’ve each been created in Christ Jesus to do good works that God planned for us beforehand.

Rests – Not one of us can do anything to earn or deserve God’s gracious adoption of us into His family.  It is by grace.

What We Believe

At Keno Christian Church, we believe:

The Bible, both Old and New Testaments, is God-breathed truth written by each individual writer.
The Bible is our sole authority in matters of faith, practice, worship, organization, and ministry.
The Bible is all true, and is never to be over-ridden by popular opinion, so-called science, or any human philosophy.

God created the heavens and the Earth and all the things therein.
God continues to sustain His creation by His sovereign power.
God exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, each possessing equally all attributes of deity.

Jesus Christ is God, come in flesh, fully human, fully divine, born of a virgin, crucified, and raised on the third day.
Jesus’ death on the cross was the sacrifice that turned away God’s wrath, taking away the sins of the whole world.
Jesus will personally return in power and glory, to establish His eternal Kingdom.

God’s Holy Spirit was sent to enlighten minds of men to see their need for Him.
God’s Spirit helps each believer live a holy life before God.
God’s Spirit helps each believer discern the true intention of God’s word, just as He inspired the writers to write it.
Every man, woman, and child is sinfully separated from God, and is under His wrath.

God desires for every man, woman, and child to be restored to fellowship with Him.
God has offered every man, woman, and child salvation through sincere faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
A new believer must strive to grow in Christ by reading, studying, and meditating on His story from the Bible.
A growing Christian develops a life of obedience to Christ and agreement with what He believed and taught.
Christ’s Church is comprised of all who put their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
A local Church is a gathering of believers to devote themselves to worship, prayer, God’s word, and fellowship.
Christian fellowship brings believers together to help each and all grow, and to work together to serve Christ.
The Church’s chief goal is to bring glory to Christ by faithful living and teaching.

Who We Were

For 2000 years, many faithful men, women, pastors, teachers, theologians, and laymen have labored diligently and suffered greatly to pass the true Christian faith to this generation.  After the Protestant Reformation, many different sects and denominations splintered Christ’s Church.  What was needed was a unifying commitment to be the Church that God’s word taught.
KenoCC continues to be a non-denominational fellowship of believers who have no creed but Christ, no book but the Bible, and wear no name but Christian. We wear the name Christian in the same sense that “the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.”
We do not believe that we are the only Christians, but we earnestly strive to be Christians only. We attempt to speak where the Bible speaks and remain silent where the Bible is silent.
Keno Christian Church was started by three Klamath Falls congregations, and began services on June 19, 1977.
Later, on September 11, the original Church Charter was signed.  It stated:
“We present ourselves as charter members of the newly organized Keno Christian Church.  Our purpose is:

  1. This organization shall have and use the New Testament as its one and only rule of faith and practice.
  2. The terms of admission to this congregation shall be identical to that stated in the gospel; “Repent, and let each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
  3. The purpose shall be to carry out the command of Christ; “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I command…”

Our present auditorium was dedicated on December 3, 1978.

The first Constitution of the Church revealed our purpose: “To win people to the Lord Jesus Christ, to help them grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord, to strive for the unity of all of God’s people on the basis of the New Testament scriptures, and to promote the Kingdom of God throughout the World.”

KenoCC’s current Constitution expresses our deepening understanding of Christ’s mission for KenoCC:
To lead people toward a growing intimacy with Christ, by helping them walk in His grace, His wisdom, His character, and in His passion for loving, saving, growing, and sending others.
